The Story Of Sumi

THE STORY OF SUMI

The Sumi collection takes its inspiration from the monochrome colour palette and the age-old Japanese art form of Caligraphy. Sumi refers to Japanese charcoal and black ink, which are represented in the collection by black, grey tones and subtle ink drop patterns. The result is a mature and stylish footwear and apparel collection.

The Autumn/Winter 2010 apparel collection focuses on menswear, with simple and carefully constructed pieces. Instead of the brush stroke patterns used in the Spring/Summer range, ink drops decorate rich poplin and lightweight taffetas. Several garments feature contrasting Onitsuka Tiger stripes on the left sleeve for an eye catching effect.

For footwear, a subtle caligraphy graphic meaning 'Tiger' is printed on the heel or the side of the shoes, and on the Mexico 66 the Tiger stripes are represented by a dot print pattern. Understated in aesthetics but rich in quality and style.
